Lawrence H. Summers, PhD

Lawrence H. Summers is the Charles W. Eliot University Professor and President Emeritus of Harvard University and has been a prodigious Harvard faculty member since 1983. He has held high-profile policy roles, including Secretary of the Treasury under President Clinton, Director of the National Economic Council under President Obama and Vice President of Development Economics and Chief Economist of the World Bank. Dr. Summers became the first social scientist to receive the Waterman Award in 1987 and won the John Bates Clark Medal for outstanding American economists under 40 in 1993. Dr. Summers earned a PhD from Harvard in 1982.
