Scott Gottlieb, MD, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, works to improve public health through entrepreneurship, innovation and preservation of autonomy. He is a special partner at New Enterprise Associates and sits on the boards of Pfizer, Illumina, Aetion and Tempus. Former FDA commissioner, Dr. Gottlieb tackled opioid addiction, expanded generic drug authorizations and streamlined drug and device development. Notably, he facilitated approval of the first gene therapy cancer treatment and enacted the 21st Century Cures Act. Dr. Gottlieb holds a BA in economics from Wesleyan University and a medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
